I would like to start this month editor newsletter with a reminder in particular to PHP developers in Brazil.

CONISLI is a free software conference that takes place in São Paulo every year. This year edition will take place in SESC Itaquera in São Paulo on November 3, 4, and 5.

45. Package page section reorder, screenshot thumbnails and redesign proposals

Hello,

I am continuing to work on tools to develop the upcoming package of paid services for the users that are interested in the new planned services, so there are only a few new things in the PHP Classes site to talk about.


* Package screenshots thumbnails

One of the things that was added is a thumbnail of a screenshot image of a package, at the left of the screenshots listing, if there are any.

43. Site growing pains

Hello,

This month the work in the PHP Classes site has been so intense, that I almost missed sending the monthly editor newsletter that I promised last month.


- Site access problems

First a note about the problems with the server this week. On Tuesday there was a power outage in the data center in San Diego where the site server is hosted. As far as I could understood, the emergency systems failed to respond properly.

42. Classes trackback blog posts and PHP 10th anniversary

As you may be aware, today, June 8, is the 10th anniversary of PHP. I will not repeat what many have already said about the meaning of PHP for all of us that work, live and breathe PHP almost on a daily basis.

Do you have your own blog or do you post in other blogs about the classes you or somebody else has submitted to the PHP Classes site?

40. New server migration and update site terms of use

Hello,

After being hosted in shared servers for almost 6 years, the PHP Classes site is finally going to be migrated to a new dedicated server.

Over the years the site has been optimized to minimize the use of the server resources by the using extensive content caching methods to avoid database accesses and background job queuing to give priority to Web page serving.

39. Screenshot images and other class image file types

Hello,

Finally I have made time to implement a feature requested by several class authors for a long time, which is the ability to upload binary files, specifically files of graphical image formats. So, from now on you can upload image files of the types: GIF, JPEG and PNG.

38. Discussion forums to obtain support for each class

Hello,

It has been a while since I sent an editorial newsletter like this to the PHP Classes site subscribers.

This year has been intense in terms of the development of new features, the increase in new subscribers, the increase in submitted classes, and consequently, the increase in traffic that the site had, and in the cost to maintain it.

37. Dependency packages and top reused classes

Hello,

As you may have noticed, the PHP Classes site has a new feature that lets you specify which other packages also submitted to the PHP Classes may be needed to run your classes.

This is meant to let the users that are trying your classes know which dependencies the classes have so they know that which other classes they may need to download to use yours without difficulties.
